Barwood Shelties Barbara Thompson - Barwood Shelties - has been a show breeder of the Shetland sheepdog for more than 40 years, with champions numbering more than one hundred. Some of the more famous of Barwood's Shelties include Ch Barwoods Just Because... Barwoods Formal Attire ROM, sire of 42 champions including National winners... Ch Barwood Scotchguard Sonata ROM, dam of a 4-champion litter... Ch Barwoods Love Affair, dam of a 4-champion litter... and Barwoods Because of You ROM, dam of yet another 4-champion litter. Barwood Shelties breeds for show quality and there are always wonderful pets/companions available in these litters as well. Emerald Valley Shelties Kristy Pedersen Siler City, NC It is our belief it takes the breeder, the owner and the veterinarian for the life of your furry family member; hence Emerald Valley offers a 2-year genetic defect guarantee. This enables us to ensure each breeding is carefully chosen to produce structurally and temperamentally sound puppies. What I believe has made us the quality breeder we are is, the 4-1/2 years I worked establishing Sheltie Rescue in North Carolina. This experience has really given me insight into placing the right dog with the right home, with hopes of it being a permanent and forever happy home, and also taught me a lot about why some of these wonderful dogs wind up in rescue. I have taken this experience and gone on to teach puppy class at Bon-Clyde Learning Center in Sanford, NC. I firmly believe proper socialization begins at 3-4 weeks, which is why we try to give our puppies the best possible start. All pets are placed on spay/neuter contract with health guarantee and limited registration. |

I have been breeding and exhibiting Shelties since 1965, with 30 AKC Champions and 1 Canadian Champion to-date, including multiple Specialty winners and National Specialty placements. We have carefully planned litters in all colors each year, using only dogs tested clear for genetic health issues. In addition to show prospects, there are usually beautiful pets available, and occasionally a retired show dog may be available to just the right home. Wistwin Shelties have intelligence as well as beauty. Seven Wistwin Shelties have their Masters Agility Championships (one is a MACH3), one has been on the Agility World Team three times and is a Flyball Grand Champion, another has championships in all three agility venues (AKC, USDAA, NADAC), and two have won or placed highly at USDAA Nationals. And two Wistwin shelties are Delta-Certified Therapy Dogs. All our pets will be placed on spay/neuter contracts with health guarantee.
